Atlantic Uniform Company opened its doors in Belleville, New Jersey in 1952. Through seven decades and two generations of family ownership, the standard hasn’t moved: measure by hand, stitch in-house, stand behind the work.

Atlantic Uniform Company
Our Story

From Dungarees
to Department Programs.

For generations, customers knew Atlantic Uniform for durable everyday essentials — blue jeans, or “dungarees” as many longtime customers called them — outerwear, pea coats, work boots, and accessories for tradespeople, municipal workers, and hardworking families throughout the area. Brands like Levi’s, Lee, and Timberland were longtime staples of the business.

DNA

Uniforms Have Always Been Part of Our DNA.

While Atlantic Uniform served the broader workwear market, uniforms were always central to the company’s identity. Over the decades, we supplied uniforms for crossing guards, public works departments, postal employees, police officers, and other professionals who needed to look sharp and perform on the job.

From the late 1990s through the early 2020s, Atlantic Uniform also became a trusted source for United States Postal Service uniform programs and postal employee needs.

Communities

Growing With the Communities We Serve.

As Atlantic Uniform evolved, so did the professionals we served. In addition to its long-standing Belleville storefront at 444 Washington Avenue, the company operated a Newark location at 65 Market Street — formerly home to Katzin’s Uniforms — and expanded its focus on law enforcement, corrections, EMS, and fire professionals in 2006.

In 2012, Atlantic Uniform moved to its current Belleville location at 468 Washington Avenue, a larger facility featuring expanded showroom space, customer parking, and dedicated on-site sewing and embroidery workshops.

Officer Protection

Ahead of the Curve in Officer Protection.

In 2010, Atlantic Uniform entered the body armor market, recognizing the growing need for advanced officer protection. Through its long-standing partnership with Armor Express, Atlantic Uniform has grown into the largest Armor Express dealer in New Jersey — and one of the largest dealers in the nation.

Giving Back

Giving Back.
